Q: Does anyone in lakewood washington have a car for sale under $1000???
I want something that will run, it doesnt have to be perfect i just want it to be able to get me from point A to point B.

A: Try checking the local paper’s classified ads or the nearest city’s site on craigslist.org. Also, there’s a group called freecycle (you can yahoo search for it) that may be able to help you in your area. :)

Q: Does anybody in Western NY have a used car for sale for $1000.00 or under?

Q: Are there any cars under 1000 that are reliably and good?
You see my mom is going to buy me a car when I graduate from high school. But I want a car before that, and my mom doesn’t think a 16 year old should have a car. So even through she thinks that she will still let me buy my own if my dad puts it under his insurance and he registers it. So I’m all set to do this, and my dad told me for a first car he would pay 800 to get used to driving and it won’t be horrible if I mess it up. So now I have like 9 months to get the money. But I don’t really know any good cars for this price, but i was thinking an old honda civic because the accords use to be bad. Oh and just to let you know when I graduate I’ll probably sell my old car when my mom buys my new one which will probably be a 2005 mustang or a 65 mustang because ones on sale for 8500 and if its like that later I’ll probably get the classic thanks for the answers.

A: You can occasionally find a decent car in that price range but you need to have any used car checked out by a mechanic before you buy it.

Q: Used cars for sale in Cincinnati, OH from a private owner.?
I’m buying my first car and need to know where I could find a decent car for under $1000 from a private owner. I’ve alredy looked on sites like autotrader, craigslist, kbb, and cars.com. If you know of anybody that meets these requirements, please let me know ASAP. Thanks!

A: Save your money. It is REALLY hard to get a good used car for under $5000. REALLY hard. You’ll end up paying for so much repair that you’ll see that you could’ve saved your money and put toward a downpayment on a certified used car or a new one.

Q: Looking for a car in Little Rock, AR! I’d love to find an auto transmission, 4 door car – like a chevy cav…
I had a chevy cavalier until the end of May when a girl ran a stop sign and my car was totalled. I’d like to know if anyone has (or knows someone who has) a car for sale (under $1000) that might fit the description. Or if anyone can tell me where I might find such a mythical creature?!

Thanks – in advance – for your help!

A: autotrader.com is your best bet or even yahoo autos

Q: making Diesel? anyone done it? where i can buy machine for making diesel under 1000$?
if i make my own diesel should i buy a junky-car, or i still can buy new truck? i no that its about 50c pro gallon – it’s Amazing,

(if u have a used machine for making diesel and u would like to sale it under 1000$ live your phone number pleas. Maybe you already making your Diesel and u would like to share… live your number, email, i will contact you because its too expensive to buy new machine or even used one)

A: You won’t find one of these for less than $1000.

Sounds like you want to get something for nothing. You get what you pay for.

If you get a good quality unit you can make bio-diesel that is good enough to run in any engine.

Why not get together with some friends on one of these units. Have some bio-diesel making parties with them. This way you have help collecting the cooking oil and help making the fuel.

The item shown in the second is for a device to modify your diesel engine to run on cooking oil. It works by heating the cooking oil before it is sent to the engine. When you first start the engine, it runs on diesel. As the engine warms up, hot coolant is circulated through tubing in the vegetable oil tank. When the vegetable oil is hot enough, the system switches over to vegetable oil. When the engine is turned off, it continues to run for a short time while the fuel injectors are purged with diesel fuel. This is so the vegetable oil doesn’t solidify in the fuel system. You will still need to use some diesel fuel for the warm-up and the purge cycle when you turn your engine off. A unit large enough to run a full size pickup truck will cost you about $1500.

Q: Can I hand a new car back under the Sale of Goods Act for not hitting manufacturers mpg figures?
I’m looking for some advice about handing a car back for a refund.

I bought a new Hyundai i10 in May this year under the scrappage scheme. The main reasons I went for the i10 were the practicality of a 5 door car combined with the fuel consumption of a small car (Hyundai say it should achieve approx 57mpg on the combined cycle). I drive it mainly on 60mph limit A roads and sometimes around town so I was expecting to achieve somewhere near the combined figure and certainly was hopeful of reaching 50mpg.

After around 2500 miles it was only achieving 40mpg (even the manufacturers urban figure is 46mpg). I rang Hyundai who said to give it more time to run-in. It has now done nearly 4000 miles and is only achieving 35mpg. On one tank where I did more town driving it only achieved 29mpg (I measure it by brimming it, counting the miles and brimming it again and I was a Maths teacher in a previous life so my sums are correct!). It’s now going in to Hyundai on 7th October.

What I’m wondering is this:

1) Due to Hyundai telling me to give it more time to run-in I’m now nearing the 6 month cut off mentioned for getting a full refund. Is there anything I can do about this?

2) Would getting almost half of the manufacturers quoted mpg figures usually be a good enough reason to reject a car?

3) Does getting the car under the scrappage scheme create any problems when it comes to getting a full refund? I got £1250 from the dealer and obviously £1000 from the government.

Hopefully they can find a solution and this won’t be necessary but I don’t want to risk leaving it too long and ending up stuck with a city car that drinks petrol like a sports car!

Many thanks in advance.
Thanks for your advice Simon.

I should just add that I understand that the conditions under which manufacturers obtain their mpg figures are very specific and cannot ever be fully replicated in day to day driving. This is why I said I expected to get in the 50s.

I am a realist and a bit of a car nut so I’m certainly not ignorant when it comes to cars. I’m also an advanced driver and I have driven it in such a manner that I should get near the quoted figures but to no avail.

A: As a Mathematician, you should know that there are too many variables to predict precise MPG. All consumption figures are given as averages as identical driving conditions cannot be replicated.

I don’t think you’d have a leg to stand on.

Figures are also calculated at 56MPH, not 60.

Q: Right, I know Ive asked a lot of these. Cars?
Right. My girlfriend has wanted a new car for a while. We got some money saved up. She either wants a 306 or a VW Golf. We have seen both for sale for under £1000. Would these be any good?

A: A car costing that is likely to often need money spending on it to keep it legal and working so fine if she has more cash to do that – if not then better not do it.

Q: help me find a car?
i need a site that had cars(used) for sale and they are under 1000 dollars. does anyone know any sites like that please help me

A: ebay, auto trader, carmax, craiglist.

Q: returning a car from dealership cause of a fault?
the cars gearbox has gone after only having it 3 weeks, we paid £1800. the car is under warrenty but that only covers £250, we’ve contacted trading standards they said we can return the car under the sale of goods act 1979. we contacted the company via letter requesting a full refund. we had no response so we sent them another letter saying that if we do not hear from you within 3weeks we will be considering court action. we didn’t hear from them again. so a couple of days ago we called them up… but now they’re a new company. they’ve basically just changed the name all the old people work there its still ran by the same people but its a “new” company so they won’t take any responsibility. now there’s nothing we can do, the car is going to cost us £1000 to repair, its not what you expect after having a car for just 3 weeks. does anyone know anything about what we can do??

this was from cheltenham trade centre.. now known as the cheap car trade centre so i suggest not going there.

A: Check with the Companies House website. This will give you the registered address of the old and new companies and the names of the directors. Now issue a County Court summons against the directors of the old company (at the registered address) claiming that the car was sold to you in the knowledge that the company was about to cease trading and that the transaction was fraudulent.

Q: Help needed. sale of good act 1979 second hand car?
hi all. a week ago i sold my car, I told the buyer all the known faults and let him inspect it, I showed him all the history of the car including repairs etc.. i also droped my asking price as it had a short mot and to help if any issues arised that i didnt know of.
any way i recieve a letter today saying that he wished to have his money back or £250+ for repairs that the car needed. He says since he brought it a week ago he had locked the keys in the car and says it was due to a fault where the car locks its self and also the key can be removed after the car had started (not sure why he tried that ).
im not a dealer and this was a private sale.
he has stated that he is with in his rights due to the sale of goods act 1979 as the car wasnt as discribed,
my question is is he telling the truth?, i have read lots of articals and im still not sure.
he inspected it before buying, i had been as honest as i could plus i let him have money off my asking price.
I have never had any issues that he is stating in the time i owned the car.
any help would be great, should i just ignor the letter or should i reply ?
the car is a 1998 so isnt new and was under £1000 with 160,000 miles on the clock

thank you
michael

A: Ignore the letter. The sale of goods act does not apply except that the car must be as described – that is true. Buyer beware is the rule and sold as seen. He had ample opportunity to see the car and determine its condition. With 160,000 miles on the clock he should have expected problems.

There is little he can do but try to sue you in the county court and that is very unlikely to happen as even if he gets a CCJ against you it will be unenforceable if you decide not to pay

Q: Is fixing the lifter on 99 intrepid coslty?
I’m looking for a new car. There is a 99 Intrepid for sale for $1000. It makes a noise under the hood, the guy say’s it’s the lifter. Would I be wasting my money> How much is a repair like this going to cost me?

A: you need to stay away from that deal because it will cost you just about as much as you paid for the car to repair it,then you,ll only have a car worth about 1200 bucks, its not worth buying with engine problems, and besides that you cant be sure that’s all that’s wrong with it,buy it if you want too but i gave two away that was newer than that one is and both was nice looking cars ,they just needed engines in them, good luck.
