A: The talk was all about cars with small engines and low emissions getting free road tax. This is currently in place, but there are only about 3 cars in the country that qualify!

Your best bet is to get a Tax Band B car like a Renault Clio or Megane 1.5 dCI (86bhp). They only cost £50 a year to tax. BARGAIN!

Look on cars.com and run a detailed search around your house and something is bound to come up. Do the same with autotrader. You can also put a want add on craigslist and see what offers you get.

You see my mom is going to buy me a car when I graduate from high school. But I want a car before that, and my mom doesn’t think a 16 year old should have a car. So even through she thinks that she will still let me buy my own if my dad puts it under his insurance and he registers it. A: You can occasionally find a decent car in that price range but you need to have any used car checked out by a mechanic before you buy it.

A: car auctions. you can get some REAL bargains there. i suggest going to one or two as just a spectator first, just to get a feel of how it works. then fire along (with a budget in mind) and get bidding!!!

A: The car will be worth the price if you know how to keep repairing it. My daughter bought a $1000 Toyota pickup and it lasted about a year. But she needed it just for dump runs and a few errands each week. If you don’t work it too hard and if you can do the repairs, you can find it. Try putting a want ad into the local paper.

Sometimes repair shops know people who want to sell a car that’s seen better days.

A: Any time you are spending that price on a car, you are going to get higher-mileage vehicle, so make sure to get a make like Toyota or Subaru that are known for being good high mileage vehicles. Make sure you have someone that is knowledgeable about cars with you to make sure there aren’t any major problems like oil leaks, etc.

A: www.cars.com, www.autotrader.com. You can put in what you are willing to pay, and bring up cars in your range. Only thing is, most cars sold cheap people won’t pay to advertise online or in a paper. Drive around town & look for cars for sale in people’s yards, go to car lots & go to the row farthest back from the road: that’s where they always stash the cheap ones – as if to isolate them from the newer, shiny ones – LOL! You may also want to call some banks & check on what they have reposssed to sell. Go to local auto salvage yards to see if they have any easy fixers that run. And check with Goodwill or other such organizations – they take donated (tax write-off) cars & fix to resell. Happy hunting!
