Q: Does anybody in Western NY have a used car for sale for $1000.00 or under?
My wife Totaled her car on her way to work and I lost my job. Does anyone in Western New York have a used car for sale in that price range?
A: Try the autotrader……….and best of luck.

Q: Used cars for sale in Cincinnati, OH from a private owner.?
I’m buying my first car and need to know where I could find a decent car for under $1000 from a private owner. I’ve alredy looked on sites like autotrader, craigslist, kbb, and cars.com. If you know of anybody that meets these requirements, please let me know ASAP. Thanks!
A: Save your money. It is REALLY hard to get a good used car for under $5000. REALLY hard. You’ll end up paying for so much repair that you’ll see that you could’ve saved your money and put toward a downpayment on a certified used car or a new one.
Q: Are there any cars under 1000 that are reliably and good?
You see my mom is going to buy me a car when I graduate from high school. But I want a car before that, and my mom doesn’t think a 16 year old should have a car. So even through she thinks that she will still let me buy my own if my dad puts it under his insurance and he registers it. So I’m all set to do this, and my dad told me for a first car he would pay 800 to get used to driving and it won’t be horrible if I mess it up. So now I have like 9 months to get the money. But I don’t really know any good cars for this price, but i was thinking an old honda civic because the accords use to be bad. Oh and just to let you know when I graduate I’ll probably sell my old car when my mom buys my new one which will probably be a 2005 mustang or a 65 mustang because ones on sale for 8500 and if its like that later I’ll probably get the classic thanks for the answers.
A: You can occasionally find a decent car in that price range but you need to have any used car checked out by a mechanic before you buy it.
Q: making Diesel? anyone done it? where i can buy machine for making diesel under 1000$?
if i make my own diesel should i buy a junky-car, or i still can buy new truck? i no that its about 50c pro gallon – it’s Amazing,
(if u have a used machine for making diesel and u would like to sale it under 1000$ live your phone number pleas. Maybe you already making your Diesel and u would like to share… live your number, email, i will contact you because its too expensive to buy new machine or even used one)
A: You won’t find one of these for less than $1000.
Sounds like you want to get something for nothing. You get what you pay for.
If you get a good quality unit you can make bio-diesel that is good enough to run in any engine.
Why not get together with some friends on one of these units. Have some bio-diesel making parties with them. This way you have help collecting the cooking oil and help making the fuel.
The item shown in the second is for a device to modify your diesel engine to run on cooking oil. It works by heating the cooking oil before it is sent to the engine. When you first start the engine, it runs on diesel. As the engine warms up, hot coolant is circulated through tubing in the vegetable oil tank. When the vegetable oil is hot enough, the system switches over to vegetable oil. When the engine is turned off, it continues to run for a short time while the fuel injectors are purged with diesel fuel. This is so the vegetable oil doesn’t solidify in the fuel system. You will still need to use some diesel fuel for the warm-up and the purge cycle when you turn your engine off. A unit large enough to run a full size pickup truck will cost you about $1500.

A: ebay, auto trader, carmax, craiglist.
Q: Where do I stand having sold a used car that has gone wrong?
Hi guys. I was just wondering if someone could give me some advice.
Basically, I am a recently established motor dealer and sold a 2001 car for £5000 and unfortunately after 3 weeks the owner called me to say there was a fault with the gearbox.
All of the cars I put a good quality aftermarket warranty on and this particular one covered a value upto £2000 including labour. I advised him to go to his local garage (having spoken to the warranty company) who would fix the fault and claim on the warranty. He then said he couldnt find a garage he trusted – so as the car was not running very well and he lived 3.5 hours away I paid for a transporter to recover the car to me 4 days later (the earliest they could do).
The car was taken to a gearbox specialist who failed to diagnose the fault having had it for 4 days. I then arranged for another garage to have the car. They diagnosed the fault and contacted the warranty company who said that as it was such a large repair, would require their inspectors to come and diagnose the issue.
Basically, the warranty assessor took nearly 3 weeks to come out, having cancelled 3 appointments and after continual chasing, when they eventually turned up confirmed that the fault was what the garage stated. They went away to compile their report, and 3 days on and lots of chasing I decided to complain to the warranty company. The company are represented by a well known tv personality who I wrote to, and he personally got involved the next day, authorising the work and supported me saying they assessors have been useless.
Meanwhile, I received a letter from the owner of the car trying to reject it under the sale of goods act. I spoke to trading standards who told me I had an opportunity to repair the car given he owned the car for 3 weeks and covered over 1000 miles and he wouldnt be able to reject. I wrote back to him stating that he had accepted repair and this was being processed. He insisted then that trading standards were on his side etc.
Meanwhile, we sourced a brand new gearbox for the car as well as several other parts that were not really needed but made sense to replace. Instead of using reconditioned parts (which by law was all that was required), we decided to pay the extra and have new ones put on so that he had a decent guarantee. The car had only covered 35,000 miles by the way and is 8 years old.
Anyway, i have sinced received a 2nd letter demanding a full refund within 7 days or he wants to take legal proceedings.
The issue is, trading standards said a reasonable time period must be tolerated and its just over a month now off the road – not helped by the warranty company’s 3 week time to inspect, but this was out of my hands. Given that the work is around £3000 all in, the last thing I wanted to do was complete the work and invalidate the claim without inspection. I explained this to trading standards and asked how long was acceptable…and to quote they said ‘how long is a piece of string’ but did also say that as it was a major part of the vehicle, a longer period of time must be tolerated, particularly with a warranty company involved.
The gearbox was going to be 5 day delivery but I personally went and collected this so it could be fitted the same day. It then emerged that as it was a new part a new transfer box was needed too….which tomorrow im driving to manchester for in order to get it fitted quickly by the weekend.
Im at my whits end to be truthful and have spent a lot of money and time getting this finalised. I genuinely just want to the guy to have his car back.
I wrote back to him stating the car will be finished by tomorrow and included a lot of facts including a detailed log from the warranty company stating dates etc. of correspondence, emails from the celebrity stating they caused the delay, etc.
Just wondered if someone could offer some advice? ultimately, im an honest guy and have not dodged/dived the issue at all. I reported it from day 1 and even took the work on myself and paid £350 to have the car recovered. I would really like to know where I stand legally.
Many thanks for your advice
A: As the fault was obviously internal you had no way of knowing that it existed even if it was faulty or about to go wrong.
In taking the guarantee the buyer accepted that expensive unknown faults could occur with the vehicle from the time it was driven away.
If it was a preexisting fault that you had hidden in some way then the buyer would have a case – clearly they do not.
It is possible that the gearbox was damaged in the 3 weeks that it was used since you sold it and there is no way either you or they could prove or disprove that.
You seem to have taken all possible measures to get the car sorted and have been let down by the warranty company.
I suggest that you reply to the customers 7 day notice and make the points detailed above and keep a copy of the letter in case of further action. I would also write to the warranty company and ask them what compensation they propose to pay both you and the customer for the postponed appointments and the time taken to deal with what should have been a straightforward matter. Do not accept liability in any way and make the point that any costs you have met were a good will gesture and no more.
The only course of action open to the customer would be to go to a small claims court. I believe if consulted a solicitor would advise them not to do it as they would most likely lose. If they did do it and win then all they would get would be a County Court Judgement which is barely worth the paper it is written on being virtually unenforceable.
Good luck with that and stand your ground.

Q: Sue over a used Car Purchase?
I bought a used car. It was sold “as-is”. The last term of sale from the dealership was to replace the front tires. I received the car and on the initial trip the car was taken on the wheel seized causing about $1000 worth of damages. It turns out the dealer did not tighten the lug nuts when they replaced one of the front tires. I have a statement from Good Year stating that was the issue. I also have an email from the dealer stating that if I was in town they would have repaired it for free, but since I was out of town, I had to pay for it, and offering to assist with future repairs or something else. Even though the vehicle was sold “as-is”, I would assume this would fall under the category of negligence, as it not only caused damage but also was extremely dangerous (I almost rolled). Would this be worth suing over? I added vacation time that was missed, towing as well as gas for the trip since the trip was for public speaking and I missed my appointment and had to reschedule. Is there else should I ask for in the suit? I had to spend the night on the side of the road waiting for the tow truck company to open. How can I word that? Inconvenience?
I did offer to settle for $500… that’s when they sent me an email saying no, but that they would be happy to do future repairs at no cost.
A: only thing they may actually “have” to pay is the repair itself IF it can be PROVEN it to be their fault.
best to try and settle with them and get $500 or something. time and hassle will far exceed the $1000 if you ever get it.
contact the better business bureau and present your case, they will put alot of pressure on the dealer to work with you.
Q: buying a car without co signer at 18?
Im trying to buy a 2008 Toyota corolla its $15,000 im only 18 i have like $1000 for down payment, and thats it for right now..i talked to one of the sales rep and he said i need to have a co signer or make $1500 a month because i have no credit. i dont make near $1500 a month and my only co signer i could use is my dad but he has bad credit. whats the chances of me gettin the car? should i just try a dealership with cars under like $5000? whats the chances then? thankyou ahead of time
A: In this credit market, you have almost no chance at all of getting this car. And if you did somehow manage to, the insurance bill would probably be close to your car payment.
Go get a used car for about $5000. If you finance it for 2 years, the payments would be around $300, I’m guessing. When it’s paid off, you can drop the insurance to just liability coverage if you want, and save a few more dollars. Drive it until the wheels fall off, or until you get through college, and have a decent job. Then you can consider a new car.
Q: Am i dealing with a car scam over craigslist?
I found this really nice 2004 Nissan Altima on craigslist listed in PORTLAND, OREGON, only $3200; so i emailed this dealer about it and said “hello, im really interested in this car, where is it located at?” she then emailed me back saying “Hello there,
I’m writing you regarding my Nissan Altima. The car is still for sale. My asking price for the car is $3200. The car is currently located in Ellwood City, PA. It is a 2004 model loaded with everything. Currently the car has 40,890 miles, the VIN# is 1N4BL11D44C117842 . The car is very well maintained, it has just been completely serviced. The engine runs very good and the automatic transmission shifts perfectly. I’m selling the car because I don’t have time to enjoy it due to my job (I work as a casino dealer on a cruise ship) plus that I have some financial problems and I need money very soon. I have to tell you that I’m currently at work and I left the car in Pennsylvania at the shipping company, it’s already packed and waiting to be shipped anywhere. If you decide to purchase it, you will receive all the documents of the car (owner’s manuals, keys, clear title, bill of sale) in order to register it under your name. Regarding the payment, I will use only eBay Vehicle Purchase Protection program. If you are interested, this is how eBay Vehicle Purchase Protection program works:
1. You send me your full name, complete address (I need for shipping) and your phone number.
2. I open a transaction with eBay Vehicle Purchase Protection.
3. eBay Vehicle Purchase Protection will contact you with an invoice regarding our transaction.
4 You will send the payment to eBay Vehicle Purchase Protection and they will notify me to ship the vehicle to your location.
5. After you will inspect/drive the vehicle and decide to keep it, eBay Vehicle Purchase
Protection will forward me the funds and the deal is done.Basically, eBay Vehicle Purchase Protection will secure the funds until you will receive and inspect the car. You will have 5 days inspection period. If the vehicle is not like described, you will have to ship it back on my expense and they will give you a full refund. This way, you will be able to inspect the vehicle before committing to buy it and I know that you have the money and you aren’t just fooling around. I will wait your reply.” when reading this, you will find out that it’s in ELLWOOD CITY, PA; i live in PORTLAND, OR. I still thought, hmm what a good bargin though. I then googled how much it would cost to ship this car, and the total came out to $1000. Which is something i don’t want to pay for. So i emailed this person back saying “so if i get this car i have to payy 1000 dollars to ship it here, and if i don’t like it, i have to ship it back which is going to be another 1000 dollars, so ill be out 2000 dollars? She emailed me back saying ” don’t think you need to worry about the shipping because eBay quoted me with a great price offer and I decided to include the shipping in the car’s price. The car will arrive in 3 days to your location. Also the returning back of the car is included, I decided to pay for that because I know that this will not be the case, you will love the car.
Please let me know what you decided about my car.
Thank you,
“
I then decided to look online and see how much 2004 nissan altimas are, and it was from about 5000-10,000 depeneding on quality, this car looks GREAT, and there are only 40,000 miles on it. So i don’t see why it would be cheaper, and the fact that this person said they’re including the shipping in the car price, so if to ship it here it cost $1000, then shes actually just selling the car for $2,200
Am i dealing with a scam?
A: Yes, it’s way too obvious.
1) ALL offers to ship cars are 100% fraudulent.
2) Car is priced WAY below market value. If she is really having financial problems, she could sell the vehicle to any dealership for $4,000 and not worry about shipping.
The only problem is that she doesn’t have this car.
Do yourself a favor and never give money to anyone until you have fully inspected and test-driven the car. Otherwise, you are just setting yourself up for being taken advantage of.
Q: This question is about Hyundai Elantra 2009 model, SE fuel consumption problem?
Before proceeding i would like to mention that i also asked this question before but still i am suffering from this fuel system problem (even after visit to dealer).
Ok now i proceed. My car is having these following symtoms after its first 1000 Km maintenance: (a) Some undescribable voice along with engine voice and it seems that this voice is directly proportional to engine’s rpm.( means with increased engine rpm the repetition of voice also increases but sound does not increase too much).(b) My car is consuming too much petrol i.e.,it is currently doing 380-400 Km/46 Ltr and this very bad milage as this car is famous for its extra economical fuel cunsumption. (c) I have noticed this around 30-40 times that when ever i park my car and next time when i start it, its fuel gauge is not in the same position in which it was previously when i switched off the engine. (d) Some times (now more frequently) i get smell of petrol when i go some where, switch off the engine and gets out of car(smell is in the air around the car).(e) The car is not accelarting quickly and sometimes it is very hard to accelerate.
I took it to hyundai dealer (Al-Walaan) for same complaints (as it is still under warranty), so they kept it for 2 days and in 3rd day they return the car to me but without any improvement,(even performance getting down day by day). I have also used STP fuel system cleaner and intake valves cleaner but also without any effect.
I live in saudi arabia where fuel price is not the problem…so i am also not concerned about fuel…but i am totally concerned about car because i have to sale it ultimately.
Please give me your useful feed back and comments.
Regards,
A: could be the fuel pump. ‘08 models were recalled for a fuel pump defect, but some 2007 models also reported probs. 2009 models haven’t had the same problem, but you never know
if diagnostics at the dealer don’t show a prob, my guess its mechanical. what is mechanical in your fuel system? well, the fuel pump is. and it could be malfunctioning in an intermittent way
insist they start changing parts to find the problem. tell the dealer you are aware of a massive recall on 2008 Elantra’s and your car is exhibiting the same kinds of problems. if they say “your fuel pump is fine” tell them to change it so you’ll can know for sure. if they agree and its still a problem, tell them they can change it back to the original pump. but tell them you think thats what it is, what else could it be, and you want it fixed. unless they can find some other problem.
also what the above poster said. it may cost you a little, but if you tell an independent shop to locate a problem they may be able to. then take the car to the the dealer and tell them to fix it
my guess, however? faulty fuel pump. the smell of gas, hesitation on acceleration, no “check engine” light coming on? have them change the fuel pump. tell them since they can’t “find” the problem, you’ll just start there
Q: please help I need a website but I know nothing but I am willing to learn if I just knew where to start?
I know nothing about building a website but I would like one where people can put up pics of there cars, motorcycles, Art Work & Crafts and say what they think about there work good or bad. But at the same time other people are free to put up there works and be fair about it when some one has something to say about there work also. All in good fun an professional criticism of course.
I would like a website with a “FORUM” and/or a “BLOG” or “BOTH” that covers not just Art in the traditional sense but Art in the “FORM” of building “CHOPPERS” & “CARS” “FOX BODY MUSTANGS PREFERABLY” because its my favorite years & time line for “MUSTANGS”.
It would be cool if a few people who decide to get on there “CHOPPERS” and go for a 1000 mile ride with all there blankets and 2-people tents and all the things people would need all Rolled up nice and really tight and safe connected to the Sissy Bar and Rolled up safe and tight down the front forks to be free out on the Road and sleep under the stars making there camp fires etc, etc.. And some of the people decided to bring hand held came corders and A Canon Rebel Digital Camera to document the entire rode trip event and even giving it a name something that would take your mind back to a time where strong Men and Women were free to ride the trails across the beautiful land we call America. And you can bet that if they wanted to cruise at speeds of 125-MPH they would do it (if the Roads were as good as the roads today. The whole thing would be about making it to a “GIANT “MOTORCYCLE RALLY” THAT HAPPENS ONLY ONE TIME A YEAR. And when its all over The people that decided to go just so happen to be members of my “WEBSITE” and tell us every thing that happen and show us “ALL THE PICTURES OF THE TRIP” and they would even post UP links to SHOW the “HAND HELD VIDEO DIGITAL CAMERA to SHOW OFF WHAT ALL HAPPEN on the trip THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY”.
I seen a friend make a website like this… in a way. This website was simply about a game where you play against other people from 20 miles away to 500 Miles away. It was a pretty simple and a basic Forum Set-up and people could leave messages and talk to each other by typing letters through the Forum but when we got a Talking Live Free system set up, we never did use the website Forum System other then to let people know who we were and to leave messages to challenge us to a game etc.
It was a simple website. He made one single page that simply told the person who was reading what the” GAME WAS ABOUT AND WHO WERE THE PLAYERS AND HOW ANY THERE WERE & THE RULES ETC, ETC, ETC.”at that point you simply agreed to the rules and put down your email address “OR NOT” but if you did you went to your email and waited for a letter that said your in and excepted. Then after that you clicked the high-lighted address then you popped up back into another website and this website was a forum website. And there were all kinds of sections and “TOPICS” to choose from if you wanted to talk about things or answer some ones questions if you knew the answer.
Or you could make up your own “TOPIC” if you had a question or wanted to make a statement..
The website that I would be just fine with today would simply be the one page website with a simple forum because it cost nothing . And then latter I guess I could learn on my own how to make a website that was a Blog and a Forum. then latter learn to make a website that people can post pictures up and members could talk about it. But the website I wrote about up-top is my DREAM WEBSITE but that will be latter down the road I guess
Does anyone know if there are DVD’s for sale that show you step by step how to build a website from a simple one to hard ones? Or how much does some one charge to make a simple Forum website?

Q: can i cancel a car loan if i still haven’t driven off the lot?
i live in rhode island and i just bought a used car at a dealership. originally the loan was supposed to be under my name with a cosigner. i wasnt approved for the loan so the man switched my name with my cosigner, and also asked me to pay an additional 1000 for a downpayment which i am supposed to bring to him this monday along with my insurence papers. me being excited and half stupid rushed signing the paper work. now reading the contract i notice that the price is actually $6000 higher then what i was told. (originally the sales person told me 15 i had asked if it was what i was paying after the the 5 year lease including interest he had said yes)
now i read online and found out that it is next to impossible to cancel a car loan once you have signed the contract, but that a dealer has the power to cancel the loan in 10 days i guess if it feels it gave the buyer too good of a deal.
in my case i havent finished paying the down payment, drove the car off the lot, or even gotten it insured. so even though i did sign the papers is there any way i can cancel the contract?
in response to knitting bear, if it really doesnt matter then why switch it in the first place? and why if it really doesnt matter does it make an actual difference?
A: Contact your Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General in Rhode Island. You have not taken possession nor completed payment. Tell whoever you speak with the same thing you stated here, have your paperwork to refer to because they may ask for the name of the car dealer as it is officially licensed.
Q: IRS audit… is my tax preparer liable?
We’ve used the same tax preparer for many years. Nothing fancy, one of the big name franchise’s. Without any major deductions or audit flags we’ve been selected for an IRS audit. My wife and I are both W-2 workers and collectively earn just under $100K/yr, claim standard deductions (mortgage interest, kids (no EIC), nominal business expenses — less than $1000/yr for business supplies, lunches, etc… and some mileage for business travel in a car that I own, (less than 10K miles per year and I’m in B2B sales), no investment losses or non-standard or “creative” deductions). Just seems so odd that we’d be selected for an audit. Is my tax preparer accountable to me for this audit? Is selection totally arbitrary or, are certain flags looked for?
Appreciate all the feedback. Yes, business expenses are unreimbursed, mileage claimed is mileage not paid by my employer for business travel in my own vehicle. And, perhaps “liable” was a poor choice of words. I think “accountable” is probably better. Just seems we pay a fair premium for sound advice in completing our returns and advising us on what we should include and what not to include (so to speak). I’d like to believe I’ve paid for a bit more than someone simply filling in the blanks with the info I’ve provided. Wouldn’t be much of a service if that were the case.
A: I am sorry to hear of the situation with the IRS.. What kind of IRS? Did you receive a letter, did the IRS tell you to come in or do they want to meet you at your house?
In most cases, taxpayers are sent a “OOPS, discrepancy letter” which is a correspondence audit. This is nothing major, but just is asking you to either pay up what the IRS determines you should pay OR your numbers are off from calculations.. This is the most widely used audit..
Now, if you are being summoned to come in to their office (called an office audit), they have some questionable expenses that they want to address with you in person (in other words, you may have some not serious, but flagrant numbers they want to discuss)…
If they contacted you to say they are paying you a visit to your house, then this is a HUGE RED FLAG.. This is called a field audit.. If this is what they have chosen, I recommend you IMMEDIATELY seek representation. A field audit is the worst of them all.. I call this audit the “blood audit.” They want blood because they have something bad on you… Most of the time this is done because there are some very QUESTIONABLE expenses… From what I am reading, I believe they flagged you because of the business expenses.. See, the IRS sets a certain acceptable range for every category…. For instance, if you have too much on your schedule A for certain deductions from AGI, self employment deductions, etc, you are guaranteed to be selected.
I disagree with your statement that your tax preparer is not liable to you… While I cannot agree that they should be required to pay you damages, they should be prepared to defend your return to the IRS. However, since you are using what I call a “drive-thru franchise”, these tax preparers are not licensed CPA’s and thus create more problems.. Most of them utilize a tax program to put information in and spit out a completed return..
The IRS audits roughly 1 out of every 128 returns for no reason.. Keep in mind, once you are flagged for an audit, your future returns are scrutinized by the computer first and then by a human before being allowed to proceed through.
Your tax preparer company should be ready to defend you in this action, even if it goes to court….
By the way, not only you are responsible for the information placed on the form, so is the preparer (they can be sanctioned by the IRS and disallowed from doing future returns if not careful).. Remember, they have to fill out and sign below where you and your wife sign on the 1040…
If you like, e-mail me and we can work through it.. I am actually studying tax in great detail (for my CPA)… I already have my MBA in business, but just brushing up to get ready to sit for CPA… I have the backing of a tax professor who has over 20 years of experience in the field against the IRS..
