Q: Any one know where I can find cars for sale under $2000 and that will run?
I need a manual transmission car under $2000 that will run. I’ve tried ebay, autotrader, craigslist… please list if you have a car for sale that meets my requirements and also if you know of any sites.

A: If you have the cash to purchase this car, hit the used car managers of dealers near you, you are the holy grail of buyers–one who is actually looking for a manual transmission, these are generally just dead as far as wholesale goes and somewhat hard to retail. tell them you want to buy it with a drive first. I know I let sales persons put together used car buyers and new car trade-ins to help consummate more sales. I couldn’t have been the only one that practiced it.

Q: used cars for sale rice lake Wis under 2000 dollars?

A: Autotrader.com
carsoup.com
carspot.com
jsonline.com (milwauke journal sentinal web site)

Q: Is there a good running car for sale by private owner for $2000 or under out there?
I’m looking for a used car in the Macon, Dublin or Eastman GA. area selling by a private seller. Is there a good running car for sale by private owner for $2000 out there?

A: It should be 4-door, 4-cyls, not sporty. I would prefer Honda or Toyota… First time drivers usually have much more expensive car insurance, and it depends from car. You should compare insurance rates while choosing the car – for example here – carquotes.fateback.com

Q: Where is the best place to find cars for sale by owner?
Im looking for something $2000 and under. Needs to be running good. Ive spent way too much money on my current car and it just quit on me. So i want something reliable. I looked on craigslist but i didn’t find much. Any site recommendations?

A: try craigslist.org

Q: Best car for 17 old girl, under 2000, nice looking???
i need a car that is nice looking that i can add speakers and stuff to, i want cheap insurance obviously so i need a 1.1 – 1.4 etc…i live in essex if you could give any car sales thanks!!!

A: try looking in the classifieds in the newspaper, sometimes you can find and older used car that’s nice and works well, as for types i can’t really help you there i’m in the same boat :]
good luck!

Q: What would be the best car for me to get?
Im looking for an older car thats under $2000 but looks and runs good and has really good gas milage…does anyone have any ideas on the kind of car I should look for, or does anyone happen to have a car for sale that fits my description?

A: try a grand am. always gooooood.

when i was younger (16) my first car was a 1998 grand am, i paid 1200 for it. now (im 18) and i still drive a grand am, only its a 2004… so yea, grand ams are good, reliable cars, and you can usually find good looking, and running ones for around your price range. good luck

Q: does anyone know where i can find a good car for sale between 3000-4000?
I am looking for a car for sale in illinois or northwest indiana i want a car years 2000- to present and under 100,000 miles i have found a few cars fitting that criteria but they were not that apealing to me

A: NEVER EVER EVER buy a car on ebay without inspecting it first. make sure you know what too look at in a used car its not just age and mileage. if you want to buy a car that is fairly new (under 5 years old) and you see the price tag is quite low (3-4 Gs) be very wary about them. when attempting to purchase any used car i suggest you look for the following. Look at the under belly of the car if you see any part of the car that looks damp (oil leaks, coolant leaks, ect..). Also look at the oil level if it is too low or too high the car might have a blown head gasket (cost about 2 grand to repair). if you see the oil level is too low or too high look into the coolant tank if you see the coolant has a darkish brown color then the car definatley has a blown head gasket DONT BUY THAT CAR!. Next thing turn on the engine and rev it up high (not redline but close) then look under the car if you see anything dripping take note of it. when test driving the car make sure you turn off the radio and check for any strange nosies, also notice how the car shifts, if it jerks in shifting or makes strange noises while shifting then dont buy the car transmission repairs are very expensive. if you look out for these issues you have a much better chance of purchasing a a good used car that will not give you much trouble in the future. i recommend you look for grandma cars they are the absolute best used cars can buy. Good luck!

Q: do you know of a SALE??
does anyone know of a nice car for sale around batavia or buffalo, NY for under 2000.00

A: No, I’ve included a link that should help you find something.

Q: Whats with the smart car and other “high” MPG new cars?
I ask this because I just read the story on the Yahoo headlines about the Smart Fourtwo and how its so great that it gets 33/41 MPG and I have read about hybrid cars and their MPG too and I just have to ask this question…

In 1997 I bought a 1990 Geo Metro Convertible for under $2000 at a dealership. The car was perfect and I never had one single problem with it. I drove it on two cross country trips as well as year round in New England and it averaged well over 40 MPG. Long distances on the highway- much better even. I just checked a news release from back in the day and this is what it said: “PERFORMANCE: * 0-60 m.p.h. (as tested, with 5-speed manual) 16.2 seconds. * Top speed, estimated 90 m.p.h. * Fuel economy, EPA city-highway, 40 and 46 m.p.g.” ( http://www.latimes.com/classified/automotive/highway1/la-hyw-geometro1990,0,2284994,full.story ) One summer when gas was .99 a gallon I drove the thing from Maine to Kentucky (1075 miles) on TWENTY DOLLARS. Thats 54 MPG !!!

So I guess I just don’t understand WHY someone could make a car like this almost 20 years ago, but nothing for sale right now beats it in fuel economy?

And yeah- I regret ever selling it…

A: Newer cars have features people want that affect gas mileage. A big advantage of the Smart car is that it costs several thousands of dollars less than anything else today that gets similar mileage. It needs servicing only once a year, or every 15,000 kilometres, which is a huge savings in itself. Where I live there is a $2000 government rebate when you buy one because it is considered an environmentally friendly car. And when you buy one, roadside assistance is part of the package.

Q: 2000/2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse Questions?
I had/have a 2001 Mitsu Eclipse GT, it is a V6 and automatic. I got in a wreck and it’s totaled. Everything under the hood is still good. I found a 2000 Mitsu Eclipse for sale, it’s a 4cyl and automatic. My question is, could I take out my motor and transmission from my wrecked ‘01 and put in the ‘00? They are basically the same car, 2000’s and 2001’s. What all would I need to take out and put in the new car? Any idea how much this would cost, since I already have the tranny and motor?

A: first off, change your tranny to manual. you will never get your engine ultimate power if your on automatic. 2nd big engine don’t necessarily mean more output, it means your going to spend a whole deal on fuel. sell all the parts and get a brand new honda, a toyota or a nissan.

Q: What is the best car to buy right now?
We’re looking for a SALE…We want a good car, but under $14,000 at under $200 a month with a down payment of $2000 or under including tax and a trade in (1997 Saturn SC2- 187k miles)

A: With good credit, your payment will be about 20 bucks per thousand financed for 5 years. 10,000 financed = about 200/mo. You can stretch the loan out to 6 years for your $200 to buy a little little larger loan but I don’t recommend it for various reasons.

A dealer will consider your Saturn to be worth no more than $500 (regardless of what they show you on paper) so you’re probably better off selling that yourself if you can.

As far as the “best” car to buy right now, you haven’t really given any criteria as far as new or used, options, size, etc.

I personally feel the Ford Focus is the best bang for your buck right now as far as inexpensive yet extremely reliable cars. Check it out on consumer reports, it has a great track record.

Q: Purchased a Car that came out to be stolen can i sue ?
On thursday morning i saw a ad on craigslist for a 1999 honda civic ex 5speed for $2000 firm … i call the guy and told him if you can bring it down to me and if it was in the conditions he stated it was i would pay him the $2000 .. he brang the car i test drove it .. i check the vin compared it to the vin on the panels and inspection stickers on the car .. everything matched up perfectly .. i had the title to the car i park the car in my driveway .. i go to geico .com to add the car to my policy to insure. the next morning i go to DMV in elizabeth nj to register and transfer the title to the car under my name . They tell me that the car has been reported stolen out of paterson nj ..I went crazy .. i tried calling the guy back he didnt answer my calls.. i went online and saw he had more add’s with the same phone number for motors transmissions doors parts to many cars for sale..so i went to the house of the person that was on the title he didnt live there anymore . a lady there gave me the phone number to the land lord of the property which knew the original and real owner of the honda civic..i talked to her and she said the car was stolen from paterson nj .. i told her i paid $1850 for it last night and that i had the title and everything .. So by this point i already knew that the guy that sold me the car was definitly not the owner.. So i called the guy that sold me the car under a different phone number posing as a new customer to purchase one of his motors and transmission he picked up quickly when he saw a new number! so i told him i would meet him with a flat bed or a mini van to pick up this motor… i went to paterson police spoke with the sergants and detectives and i explained to them that i had an arrangement to meet the seller of the car to get more parts .. i also expalined to them that i am in the sellers eyes a new buyer .. so we parked at the location that the guy wanted to meet .. the same 3 people that came to deliver the car when he originally sold it to me all showed up with him .. and the cops did a big surrounding around the car they were in a old 1993 beat up nissan pathfinder which turned out to be stolen aswell.. then the motor and transmission they intended to sell me was in the trunk of the car… they were all taken to paterson police.. the car i purchased got taken buy paterson police.. They are investigating why the original owner of the car would even leave his title in the car no one does.that .. i wanted to know if under the curcumstances.. can i sue the guys that sold me the car for fraud or what can i sue them for including the acomplices they had .. and what about the original titled owner of the car/? i am out of $1850 ..

A: yes, you can sue the guy who sold you the car. and don’t be surprised if the “real owner” is a party to a fraudulent insurance claim on the vehicle. Work with the cops on this one. It’s your best shot at getting your money back.

Q: $4000 yr 2000 Honda Accord. Do you think this is possible/believable?
I got this reply when i emailed the individual seller about this custom made 2000 Honda Accord with 15,000 miles.

The car is still for sale and is currently located in the shipping company warehouse from Chicago, IL. I posted the car for sale all over US(nation-wide add), so maybe you see it on other location, this is a full package from the selling website for more exposure… The price is $4,000.00 the title is clean and ready to be registered under your name, i have the car from my former husband as he lost it in the divorce trial and i have no use of it as it is a fast sport car and i want a smaller convertible, it will be a great experience for you, guess my husbands loss your gain, the only thing is that i want to have a quietly vacation after this divorce and i want to avoid headackes and complications, so i want to involve eBay Motors to participate in this transaction and supervise the payment and shipping it through DAS. In this way i have someone do everything for me and things are simpler, shipping it would not be a problem i will take care of it through DAS Express Shipping because i have some advantages and it would cost me very little, plus i want to take care of handling and insurance myself to make sure everything goes smooth and the car reaches you in the exact condition i am sending it and that is IMPECABLE and shpping taxes will not be added extra to the original price so $4000.00 will be everything you pay to have it delivered to your door. If we use the eBay VPP services you also have an inspection period prior buying the car. In this way you will have the chance to inspect the car before pay me, and I will be comfortable when I’ll ship you the car. Let me know if you want to move forward, in order to open the transaction with ebay
I will need your shipping address in the following format:
Receiver Name-
Street Address-
City, State, Zip Code,
to forward it to the authorized personell from eBay to start the transaction so you can buy the car from me. If you want photos or more infos about the car just ask me and I will be glad to provide you.

Does this seem like a scam or something? Are there any ways that this seller can steal money or rip me off?
Thank you people so much. Im glad to have fully confirmed my doubts.
definitely a scam. i got an email back saying that i go can’t see the car until 4 weeks later, and by then it’d be already sold. Obviously a scam.

A: IF its actually thru eBay you’ll find the car listed on the eBay motors site
if it is? check their feedback and only use paypal for your payment

but I feel this is worded ( spelled ) oddly like as if the person is in a foreign country and ready to scam you

Q: Used Car Dealership ripoff….or AS-IS sale justified?
I brought a 92 Civic from a used car dealership alittle under a month ago for my job so I can have a simple car to drive to work and back home…I test drove the Civic and it seemed fine..no leaks, no crazy noises from the engine, everything seem to work fine except the instrumental panel lights and the car door locks which is pretty minor to me.
So I brought the car AS-IS for $2300..he even showed me the Blue Book price and it was the right price.

25 days later these are the problems I have been having with the car:

Coolant Leak from behind the engine.
Timing Belt is cracked.
Radiator fan don’t work.
Car shakes(almost a jerk shaking) when in Drive and Reverse but is fine in Neutral and Park.
Car will crank BUT won’t start…fuel isn’t even getting to the fuel filter(this happened TODAY at work).

TODAY I called the used car dealership where I got the Civic from and told him(the manager) to give me a refund because EVERY SINGE car in that lot is the dealership’s responsibility and they should know what is wrong with every car on the lot and TELL the customer the defects or or anything that’s wrong with the car…..When I brought the car..he didn’t tell me anything like that..he said the car is good and rides good.

YES..I know was an “AS-IS” buy BUT if the dealership told me what was wrong with the car ..then I would have had 2nd thoughts about buying it. Yeah I could have brought it to a Mechanic…but it was low on gas for some reason….maybe that was a trick so I won’t have enough gas to get to a Mechanic and back.

Anyway I called the Dealership and he didn’t wanna give me my money back….So I told him..”Ok since you won’t give me my money back..or I’ll just print 2000 flyers with a picture of my 92 Civic with a list of what’s wrong with the car, your dealership’s name, address, phone number and how long I had it(less than a month) & give those flyers out in front of Wal-Mart and Target..sounds good?”.
He said I was talking crazy and the flyers are stupid and I could hear he was nervous in his voice….But I told him “Whatever I put on those flyers is gonna be true and stating the facts so it’s not crazy or stupid right? and it’s way too easy to do.”
I also told him I would talk to a Lawyer as well…that’s when he hungup.

Only thing I did wrong was TRUSTING an car dealership and not taking the car to a Mechanic..it’s a hard way to learn but it’s the dealership’s responsibility to know(or have a list) of what’s wrong with EVERY CAR on THEIR lot.

Is this True or not?

Did I do the right thing calling them up about the Civic and what I would since they won’t give me a refund.

P.S: I might look kinda funny giving out flyers in front of Walmart and Target….but the Message is pretty clear…Don’t shop at “Airport Auto Sales” in Killeen, Texas. OSme might think it won’t do anything…but some will think twice before going there.
I knew someone would say..”you’re trying to blackmail them”.
Well..I didn’t say..”Pay me back or else!” to them..I told them since you’re not gonna give me a refund..then I’m gonna tell the truth about what happened and state the facts.

There is NO LAW against letting people know the truth and state the facts on a flyer and handing it to the public. That’s like saying protesters can’t say their opinion in public…and that’s even a louder voice then what I’m doing.
Yeah protesters get arrested..but because they don’t leave the property or move out the way..not because they voice facts and opinions.
So I guess ONLY the customer has the responsibility to see and say what’s wrong with the car right?

I mean when you go to a pet store and buy a dog or cat I’m sure no one has the responsibility to saying..”By the way..This dog(or cat) has Cancer..but just as long as we get our money..it’s ok!”
Dogs and cats are sold as-is as well..right?

Don’t blame the pet store right?

A: “As Is” means as is. Its not the dealerships job to inspect the car its YOUR job. Its as simple as that. If you cant check it out properly then you pay $50 or something to have a shop somewhere check it.

You bought an 18 yr old car. You have to know something is going to be wrong with it.

Slander isn’t something you want to do either. Be prepared to get yourself a whole lot more problems.
